-REAL BLUES, REAL GROOVES
“Solid, seasoned and soulful, WBRB play the Blues the way it was meant to be played”
- Andrew Galloway, President, Electro-Fi Records
WBRB IS
An electric blues band. With over a century of experience
between them the members of WBRB came together for
one purpose: to play real blues with real grooves. We know
that there is an enormous tradition to the blues and we
want to keep that alive. At the same time, living music
is not a static thing. Starting from a background of playing
with the masters of the previous generation WBRB is taking
what we’ve learned and putting our spin on it, while never
disrespecting the traditions.
Dave Watson (Leslie Guitar/Vocals) brings a unique style to
this remarkably seasoned lineup, with his energetic vocals and
Leslie driven guitar. Although he’s a relative newcomer to the
front of the stage, Dave has been playing sideman roles for
nearly 30 years, sharing stages with some of blues’ finest.
Mike Branton (Guitar,Vocals) has been a fixture in the southern
Ontario blues scene since the early 1990′s fronting the Mike Branton band,
and as a sideman to many, across Canada and in the U.S. Jeff Healey,
Stu Heydon, George “Wildchild” Butler, Chicago Pete, and Michael Pickett
are a few of the bandleaders he has worked with.
Al Richardson (Bass) was Mel Brown’s bass player for 18 years.
He has recorded with Brown, Snooky Pryor, and Shawn Kellerman.
Performed at Montreal Jazz Festival, Cognac Blues Passion Festival,
Cisco Ottawa Blues Festival and Kitchner Blues Festival.
He Says “I play Jazz like a bluesman and Blues like a jazzman”.
Jimmy Boudreau (Drums) is a seasoned professional with 27 years
of international touring and recording experience with artists such as
Snooky Pryor and Sam Moore (Sam & Dave). Perhaps most notably,
18 years as the drummer for Mel Brown and the Homewreckers.
Jim and Al found playing with Mel Brown rewarding on many levels. In 2001
their efforts were publicly recognized when the album Neckbones and Caviar
was awarded a prestigious W.C.Handy for Comeback Album of The Year (Mel Brown).

It also received the Grand Prix from L’Academie du Jazz in Paris, France, for Blues Album
of The Year and a Juno nomination (Canada) in the same category.
